On the move again

After being camped for 2 week, we started moving again. The first shot is with friends on a bike ride to Balltown Iowa to Breitbachs Rest. t was the oldest bar/restaurant in Iowa until it burned last year. They rebuilt, and the food and place was great. Mostly, the ride there and back is even more fun. We were joined by the Brandt's, and Lee's for a great day and evening of riding and eating.
We the drove our rig to Lacrosse WI, and connected with old friends Dave and Sue Wiersbe for a round a golf, quilt shop touring, and driving up and down the Mississippi. This shot is the landing where you catch a ferry out on the river to a floating restaurant. This was filmed by Alton Brown for the food network. This was in Alma Wis.

We stopped on the Minnasota side at a toy factory, wondered thru the museum, and looked at the toys thy sell. One item was demonstrated by a worker, so grammy tried it, and we had to have one for the grand kids.

We left there, and drove south to Baraboo WI, where we used to live. We visited with lots of friends while there. Here are Gary and Linda Buhr, fellowRVr's, and looking for a volunteer idea.

Then we had dinner with our former pastor and his wife Dave and Anne Hutchens. If you have a minute, pray for Dave as he is on a heart transplant list. We saw others, but didn't get pic's.

Then on Sat, we met Chris & Em in Madison, and went to a Badger game. This shot is a bunch of Baraboo friends that all sit together, and have since we started going to the game over 15 years ago.

Staying put

Staying put for a couple weeks means Dr, Dentist, etc., but also a chance to have the grand kids for a couple days. We got them last Sunday, and took them to the fair. They got to ride lots of rides. Some of them were by themselves, and some were with Grammy, cause pappy doesn't do rides.

Then on Mon, we took them to the Discovery Center in Rockford, and they had fun playing and climbing. Here Abby is swinging in there outside play area, and Caleb is climbing up the inner part of the steps.

Then we spent some time at the beach at the campground we are staying at.

Then just before taking them back to their mother, we had a picnic outside the coach. They thought it was great fun, and it kept the little mess outside.

For those who I didn't call or if you haven't heard, I had my last Dr appt last week and HE DIDN'T FIND ANY TUMORS this time. That is the first time since I found the bladder cancer. He was disappointed cause he said he had payments to make. I did cartwheels all the way out, sort of. God is good.

Ba Haba & Birthday Celebration

We Left Canada, and headed for the Maine coast. They pronounce it Ba Haba, to us mid westerner's. We had lunch on the bay, which was wonderful after the fog lifted a bit.

We walked around a bit, and Mel found this lovely hat that she modeled.

We road some of the coastline, and found yet another lighthouse. We didn't ride one day because of the rain and fog. We left Maine, and headed back to Ill, so we could travel some more.

Before we left Atlanta, we had some time, so went downtown, and saw the Olympic Park. They had this fountain for people to play in, so little Caleb got wet. He was a little timid at first, but then got into it. The water was cold, but he didn't care.

These are not in order, but we flew to Atlanta with all the family to help celebrate Mel's dad's 80 th birthday.

This is Mel's mom with the great grand kid's. They really enjoy GG.

This is the entire family. with Mel's sister middle right, our kids and grand kid's, and a cousin from PA that came down for the weekend.

This is the birthday boy and his wife of 58 years.

And, of coarse, our wonderful grandchildren.

Up North & EAst

Here we are again, back in the USA, and good Internet connection. The first shot is Paul and me fixing the lift on the motor home so we could continue our trip. This was after going to buy bolts, and a trailer to haul our bike. It worked fine, and we will get the lift fixed when we get back to Rockford.
We made it to Nova Scotia on Sunday, Jul 20, and parked our rigs at the Wycliffe Canada property. We were going to ride to Prince Edward Island, but the rain cam in, so decided to take Paul's truck instead. We toured the island to the east on Monday, and then on Tue, we went to Avon Green, which is the reenactment of where Anne of Green Gables was written. For those who know the stores, you can see Mel and Mary sporting there braids. They also had some square dancing that Paul and Mary got into.

We left there and went southeast near Halifax. After setting up, we took a ride into town, and found a great place on the water to park with lots of other bikes, and have a bite to eat. After dinner, we walked along the pier, and saw this tug boat named Theodore, that gave rides. We thought our grand kids would love that.

The next day, we toured near the Bay of Fundy, and saw miles of fairly dry riverbeds. We learned that this is the area where the largest tide works. It changes as much as 53 feet, and does it within a few minutes. It was beautiful, and amazing to see.

We then moved northeast near Sydney, and took a ferry across to New Foundland. The first shot is the dock we left from, and the second is the bikes all tied down for the trip.

While in NF, we toured some beautiful coastal areas, and this shot is in a small town with a great seafood restaurant. They had 2 specialties, one similar to smelt, and the other was Cod Tongue. I ordered just one piece of each, and it was interesting the small fish was very fishy tasting, and had bones that you just ate. The Cod tongue wasn't something to order lot's of, but in a pinch, was ok.

We got back to Nova Scotia, and one ride we wanted to do was the Cabot Trail, which is about 160 Miles of mountains, and coastal roads. All went well, and the scenery was beautiful, and then it began to rain. Here Paul and Mary sit waiting for a small ferry to cross a 200 ft body of water, with full rain gear on

This photo is out of order, but it is some of the coast we saw in the sunshine
